Yes, you should book in advance, you also need to ensure all your group have signed up on booking system prior to arrival, failure to do so may reduce your time wakeboarding.
Sessions on the Full Cable are ticketed at 1 hour, 2 hours and all day.
Sessions on the System 2.0 Coaching Cable are in 15-minute slots, multiple slots can be booked (30 minutes recommended, especially for beginners).
The minimum age for the Full Cable is 8 years old and for the System 2.0 Coaching Cable the minimum age is 6 years old.
For younger beginners on the System 2.0, adults may need to accompany child in the water dependent on ability/confidence.
If you go to your booking there is a link that you can copy and paste into an email, or you can send invites direct from your booking, once you enter a valid email address into the ‘Email’ box and tab out, it will go grey and ticks will appear to show the invitation has been sent, there is no ‘submit’ button.
If you are booking for a general riding session on the Full Cable, each non-family member will need to book separately.
Yes, you must be able to swim 25m unassisted and be confident in deep, open water. Although you will have to wear a lifejacket, it is still likely you will go under the water at some point during the activity.
It is mandatory to have a buoyancy aid or impact vest, a helmet and appropriate board (kneeboard/wakeboard). Wetsuits are optional (weather dependent). We have all equipment available to hire on site at a charge.
We have wetsuits, buoyancy aids, helmets and boards to hire on site. You should bring swimsuit/shorts to wear under the wetsuit, towel and appropriate clothing for after activities.
All female participants are required to have two layers on their bottom half during all activities. If not wearing a wetsuit, please bring shorts to wear over swimwear.
Full Cable – Up to 8 people can be on the cable at any one time, however 25 riders can book onto the same session (larger groups can be accommodated with private hire).
Coaching Cable – 1 person at a time takes part in learning how to wakeboard but others can spectate and support.
Cable operators must observe you successfully performing a surface 180, ride switch then switch back, an ollie and ollie 180. Once achieved a coach will talk you through your first features.
Wakeboarding is similar to snowboarding, but on water. Originally riders were towed behind a boat using the wake to perform tricks, hence ‘wake’boarding. The sport has evolved and now riders can wakeboard on a cable using features to perform tricks and the cable tension itself. If you have tried surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding etc this will give you an advantage when learning to wakeboard but is not a necessity.
No, we offer Coaching sessions on the System 2.0 on a one-to-one basis with a coach, and 2-hour Booster sessions on the Full Cable for beginners. If you have not been wakeboarding before on a full cable, you will start on a kneeboard on the full cable to aid your progression.
There are always operators on the dock who can advise and coach participants during their sessions on the Full Cable. We also offer lessons on our System 2.0 Coaching Cable, these are one-to-one with an instructor.
We do offer one-to-one coaching sessions on the Full Cable with a coach using a B2B headset, these are aimed at more experienced riders who have got the basics and want to progress. Sessions are subject to availability.
Full Cable – If you fall off swim to the nearest exit point or closest bank, with your board, remove board and carefully climb out at the astroturf exit or bridge, make your way back to the dock to re-join the queue.
Coaching Cable – If you fall off simply wait in the water and the coach will bring the handle back to you.
Yes, helmets must be worn at all times throughout out cable activities.
The cable lake is 5m deep.
The only weather that would lead to cancelled sessions are high winds or thunder and lightning. If we have to cancel activities, we will do our best to contact everyone who is booked on and also announce the closure on our social media. Please contact us if you are unsure or need further assistance, but please note the decision to cancel due to thunderstorms has to be taken on the day.
Yes.
We have a cafe on site that offers hot and cold beverages, hot food and snacks. We are also a licensed premises and sell alcoholic drinks, so please do NOT bring your own alcohol on site.
You are welcome to bring snacks for spectators to eat but NO GLASS is allowed on site, and all rubbish must be taken away with you.
Sorry but we do not currently offer discounts for military, blue lights or students.
We have changing rooms available to use on site, we unfortunately do not have any showers.
We have a 48-hour cancellation policy, so you can cancel your session with a full refund of your ticket price (booking fee is non-refundable) if you do so 48 hours before your booked session, however if you cancel your session with less than 48 hours’ notice then you will not be entitled to a refund. Please note if you cancel it yourself via the booking system with 48 hours’ notice the credit will go onto your Wakesys account for you to re-book, if you are unable to re-book please email accounts@hannamswakehub.com with details of your booking to enable us to refund the money back to you, via the method with which you paid.
Coaching Cable – As long as all participants are signed up on our system you can book all slots under one name.
Full Cable – 2-Hour Booster Session and School of Wake will allow you to book for other account holders, normal riding sessions need to be booked individually.
Unfortunately not, there is a no dogs policy on site. Please do not bring your dog with you.
Not really, we have astroturf around the lake making it foot friendly during activities, and water shoes cannot be worn whilst wakeboarding.
Only people participating in activities are permitted in the water on site. Open Water Swimming Sessions can be booked via: https://strethamwildswim.com
Sessions run every hour. Please arrive minimum of 15 minutes before your session start time.
Yes, we also have an aqua park on site and offer open water swimming sessions, see website links on homepage.
Yes, we offer party/group packages for birthdays, corporate events. Email info@hannamswakehub.com for more information on packages.
